Traveling from village to village in Ghana, West Africa to hand-deliver school and medical supplies donated by Kamiak High School students to needy Ghanaian children takes days and days. But after seeing the grateful faces of all of the nurses, teachers and children in Ghana, Kamiak junior Joel Bervell would go back and do it again – tomorrow.

A 16-year-old Ghanaian boy based in the United States donated 50 digital thermometers worth about 2,500 dollars to the Children’s Ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Friday. Master Joel Bervell, President of Hugs for Ghana, a non-profit organization, is an 11th Grade student at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, Washington State.

I want to put a smile on every one of those children’s faces. That was her goal, and she did it.
Rachel Bervell, a junior at Kamiak High School, returned to Ghana this summer to visit family and friends. But she didn’t travel with the typical luggage. Instead she had almost 1,000 teddy bears (and other assorted stuffed animals) with her.
